On 1 April 2012, Lene Dammand Lund, Managing Director, Architect MAA MBA, becomes new Rector at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation.
On 17 January, a unanimous Board, having considered several highly qualified candidates, decided to appoint Lene Dammand Lund, Architect and Managing Director, as new Rector of the Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation. The Board has attached great importance to the fact that Lene Dammand Lund apart from having documented experience with modern management also possesses strong professional and academic experience and insight.
The Schools have started an amalgamation process and formally merged in June 2011, where a Board for the Schools was appointed. The process implies extensive organisational and practical changes involving the Schools' 450 staff members and 1700 students.
The Chairman of the Board of the Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation, Managing Director Johannes Due says:
The Board believes that with her professional, academic and managerial background, Lene Dammand Lund will be the right person to further develop the organisation of the Schools ensuring the benefits of the merger. The Board looks forward to a continuation of the development work that has already been initiated to ensure that the Schools retain a prominent place among Danish institutions of higher education while at the same time positioning the Schools notably among similar international schools.
The Board looks forward to collaborating with Lene Dammand Lund. The Schools have been through a comprehensive merger process, which has come a long way, but where the final organisational changes have awaited the appointment of a new Rector. The Board has been informed about the highly significant work that has been carried out by students, staff and not least the current management group to realise the intentions behind the merger of the three Schools, i.e. to develop a research-based institution of education that is completely unique, also in an international perspective, due to the gathering of important artistically based educational programmes.
The current Rectorate, consisting of Sven Felding, the School of Architecture, Tine Kjřlsen, the School of Design and René Larsen, the School of Conservation, will continue to head the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation until 1 April, when Lene Dammand Lund will take up office.
